Today, January 6, we will read message five, which is titled, “The Triune God Embodied in the Word to Produce a Holy Life for the Church Life (1).”
This chapter also covers 1 Thes. 1:1-10. Its sections are:
I. THE CHURCH OF THE THESSALONIANS
II. HOLY PEOPLE LIVING A HOLY LIFE
III. THE FATHER, THE SON, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT
IV. THE CHURCH PEOPLE IN GOD THE FATHER AND THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
V. A RELATIONSHIP IN LIFE
VI. THE CHURCH IN THE TRIUNE GOD
VII.
Today brother Lee asked a question “What is the source of a holy life for the church life?”
“The Triune God is the most important element in Paul’s spiritual cooking….it is a tremendous matter for people to be in God!…We are in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ!…Hallelujah, we have a Father and a Lord!…[we] are now in the Triune God. How wonderful!”
The title of today’s message is soooo rich :
“THE TRIUNE GOD EMBODIED IN THE WORD TO PRODUCE A HOLY LIFE FOR THE CHURCH LIFE”
Hallelujah, we have such a wonderful God, and we are IN HIM!
“Both 1 Thessalonians 1:1 and 2 Thessalonians 1:1 reveal that the church is composed of a group of sinners who have been saved and regenerated and who are now in the Triune God. How wonderful!” W.L.
Thanks Lord for your mercy!!!
“Do you know where we are as believers? We are IN God the Father and IN the Lord Jesus Christ!”
“…“in God the Father” is a mark, an indication, that those in the church are no longer heathen, no longer of the Gentiles.
…“in the Lord Jesus Christ” indicates that those in the church are no longer Jewish. Jews do not believe in Jesus Christ, just as the heathen do not believe in the true God. Who are those who believe in God and in the Lord Jesus Christ? The church people are such believers.
…Both 1 Thessalonians 1:1 and 2 Thessalonians 1:1 reveal that the church is composed of a group of sinners who have been saved and regenerated and who are now in the Triune God. How wonderful!”
Lord Jesus, may we continually see more and more who we are “in”.
I enjoyed that brother Lee encouraged us to not take the preposition “IN” for granted when reading the New Testament.
After the Winter Training this word became very significant to me. Christ is IN us. We are IN Him. Everyday, through many conversations and experiences with Him we take Him as our Habitation, our Dwelling Place. We are the IN people. The Tabernacle has an entrance, so what do we do, we come IN! We are “IN God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
“May we constantly experience this reality” chorus of hymn 1181
Excerpt I enjoyed; “In reading the New Testament, it is easy for us to take terms such as in Christ, in the Lord, and in God for granted and not pay much attention to them. We need to be deeply impressed by the expression “in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” The utterance is marvelous. It is a tremendous matter for people to be in God! We need to realize that this is a matter of great significance. Do you know where we are as believers? We are in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ!I can testify that seeing the significance of the preposition “in” in 1:1 has caused the book of 1 Thessalonians to become very dear and lovable to me. In this book we have the revelation that the church is not only of God and of Christ, but also in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ.”
The church is composed of those who are no longer Gentiles or Jews, for we all now are in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Yes, I also love this word “in”. Thank you Lord that we are “in”!
“…the preposition “in” here denotes communion and participation in…The church is a group of people who have a common union with God and who are participating in Him.”
Let’s enjoy being in Him today!
The first point i enjoyed is that In the local churches today, we are living a holy life for the church life.
The second point I enjoyed it we who were once sinners have been regenerated to be IN the Triune God! How marvelous!
Wow. When I read that Thessalonica is liken to today’s San Francisco which has a world-wide reputation for being an evil, immoral city, I just felt that it is so glorious how the Lord has a group of people who are standing for His testimony. “Praise the Lord that among today’s San Franciscans there are a number of holy people living a holy life!” How glorious. The enemy is put to shame!
Also, how sweet it is that we have a life relationship with the Father! He is no longer our creator but our Father. Oh, Abba Father! We often say “Father” without paying notice to what this means! “Father” is not His title, it denotes our life realtionship with Him! Oh Father! He’s our very Father! We love You, Abba Father!
I loved reading that IT IS possible for a group of people from an immoral city and world to become a holy people living a holy life for the church life. How? By having a common union with God and by participating in Him. This speaking reminded me of Msg. 4 from this past Winter training: the highest and fullest experience of God as a Christian is to take God as our habitation.
This is very deep. This is about us living God daily in our thinking processes, in our decisions, in our feelings, in our speaking, in our conduct, in our planning, in our service to the Lord.
Oh, Lord, may we live and move and have our being in You.
“Hallelujah, the church is in God!” Amen, may we see this more and more!
Praise the Lord! How wonderful that the church is not only of God but the church is “in” God and “in” the Lord Jesus Christ.
I enjoyed that the church is not only OF God, but also IN GOD. Lord, we have a life union with You!
No longer is God only our Creator. He has become our Father, for we have been born of Him. Furthermore, Jesus Christ is our Lord. Hallelujah, we have a Father and a Lord!
Wow! In this message, I was so impressed with the word “in”! The church is not only of God and of Christ but it is IN God and IN Christ! What a revelation that we are in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ. I really enjoyed our relationship with God. God is no longer just our Creator but He is our Father. We are born of Him! This is marvelous! May we continue to experience in our daily life and our church life of being in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ!
Do you know where we are as believers? We are *in* God the Father and *in* the Lord Jesus Christ!
In this message, I enjoyed the matter of being in the Triune God. This has been spoken in previous messages, but I enjoyed freshly Paul’s opening to the Thessalonians. In other epistles, Paul spoke differently, but in this epistle, Paul emphasized that the church was in the Triune God. This means that we, as members of the churhc, are no longer heathen or Jewish. We are in an organic union with the Triune God, and enjoy all aspects of the Triune God: the Father’s selection, the Son’s accomplishment, and the Spirit’s application.
I enjoyed the aspect of God being our father and not just our creator. We have been regenerated by his life, therefore He is our father and we are His children. Praise the Lord!
Amen we are in the Triune God!
Sinners who once had nothing to do with God, are now IN God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!
The burden of this message : what is the source of holy life in local church?
First, we have to see from Paul’s introduction, where he mentioned about the church is in God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ. Later he mentioned about the Spirit too. This is the Triune God. The church has to be organically in Triune God to produce holy life.
We are so blessed that God is not only our Creator but also
our Father! We now have a relationship with out wonderful, caring,
and most loving Father!
Praise the Lord that in an immoral city there can be a church in God! There are a group of people living a holy life for the church life! We are in God and in Christ! Not just of God and of Christ! We are in the Triune God! Praise the Lord that we are no longer heaten (indicated by “in the Father”) and not Jewish (indicated by “In the Lord Jesus Christ”)…But Christ is all and in all 🙂
Hallelujah, the church is not just of God. The church is in God.
“We need to be deeply impressed by the expression “in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” The utterance is marvelous. It is a tremendous matter for people to be in God!”
Hallelujah we are in the Triune God!
Hallelujah, IN!
On Friday, we also had Message 2 of the video training, which was on The Secret Revelation concerning the Enjoyment of Christ as the Incarnated Triune God, the God-man.
I enjoyed the point on our heart being the highways to Zion:
Roman Numeral VI, B – “On the one hand, we have entered into God; on the other hand, we are still on the highways to enter into God.”
Keep going into God!
Hallelujah for the little preposition “in”! What a marvelous organic union!
I agree, Mark. “In” is a small word, but it is very significant to us because it implies our organic union with God. If it weren’t for this, there would be no way for us to be the church, to have a holy life for the church life. Let us be the church of the ???-ians *in* God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!
“I can testify that seeing the significance of the preposition ‘in’ in 1:1 has caused the book of 1 Thessalonians to become very dear and lovable to me.” This book is very dear and lovable because it expresses our relationship with the Triune God in an excellent way. In the midst of an evil region, the church in Thessalonica was in a wonderful union with the Triune God. What a tremendous matter that sinners can be saved, regenerated, and brought into an organic union with the Triune God! It is important that we see our locality is “in” God the Father and “in” the Lord Jesus Christ.
“Which matter would you say is deeper, for the church to be of God, or for the church to be in God? For the church to be in God is deeper, more profound, than for the church to be merely of God. Hallelujah, the church is in God! The church is not only of God and of Christ; the church is also in God and in Christ. It is important for us to see that the church in our locality is of God and in God, of Christ and in Christ.”
When we read Thessalonians it is easy to understand in a natural way but that we understand it in a spritual way. When we come to the Word that we understand nothing of the Bible in a natural way . I also enjoyed the point that we should see The Fathers selection, The Sons deliverance and The Spirits transmission.
I also appreciated the word “in.” We as the church are not merely something out of God…we are in the Triune God, actively in fellowship with Him and partaking of Him!
I finally managed to finish this message – we are now going through the video training, and it’s not easy “which one to choose”.
I really appreciated that we are IN THE TRIUNE GOD! We may be sinful people, but we are now in the Triune God! We don’t understand how this happened just in the same way we don’t understand how God is Triune. But we are in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ! We are organically united with the Triune God – and we are the church of “the Londoners” (if in London) in the Triune God! Hallelujah!
I googled “The church in God” and indeed did not find any hits for a denomination or organization 🙂
This exposes the natural human concept to merely focuses on “of”. What a revelation to realize that we are IN God and not just OF God!
Do you know where we are as believers? We are in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ!
Amen! Since we are in God the Father we are no longer like the Gentiles who do not have God. Also, since we are in the Lord Jesus Christ we are not like the Jews who do not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. We are neither heathen nor Jew! We are the church in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ! Hallelujah!
